Did you know?

Two days ago (January 24) was the ‘International Day of Education’, so designated by The United Nations.

COVID-19 has impacted education as it has every other aspect of life.  We should offer prayers of thanks for all teachers and professors and instructors and students and parents who have been engaged in providing and supporting education and supportive communities of learning – sometimes online, sometimes in-person, sometimes a hybrid of online and in-person!

Covid-19 has also compelled us to look closely at the physical environments in which education takes place. We realized that education involves not only textbooks and Apps and desks, but also ventilation systems, effective air exchange.

Our classrooms need to be places that provide physical safety as well as emotional and identity safety.

So we invite you to spend time this week offering prayers of thanksgiving for all who contribute to making the International Day of Education a day worthy of celebration.

Churches in Transcona have been asked to share an announcement of an education-related celebration.

Transcona Collegiate and Murdoch MacKay Collegiate invite graduates from 1971 to 1974 to join the class of ’72 grads as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of their graduation.

The reunion takes place on Saturday, May 14th, 2022 at the Masonic temple 420 Corydon Ave.

Tickets available on https://www.eventbrite.ca. Information is available on Facebook (Transcona Collegiate & Murdoch MacKay Collegiate Reunion 2022) or you can email: 2022tci.mmci.reunion@gmail.com.

Perhaps this week is a good time to remember teachers whom you remember with gratitude and appreciation.

We invite you to share memories of those teachers on tomorrow’s weekly TMUC ZOOM check-in and chat from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
