Sometimes we are amazed by what exists beneath the surface
Last year, beneath the sands of Egypt, archeologists found the long-lost golden city of Aten. The 3,000 year-old city, discovered 500 km south of Cairo, is the largest ancient city uncovered in Egypt. Seven months of excavating unveiled a city below the surface!
Sometimes we are amazed at what exists beneath the surface of the earth.
Sometimes we are amazed to discover what exists beneath the surface of our humanity.
There is more to us than what we see. Something of God resides in each of us. Underlying our humanity, we discover that each of us is created in the image of God.
Something of God’s love waits within us to be revealed. Something of God is within us, ready to surprise the world with amazing grace.
And, there is also news to be revealed this week. The Administration and Sharing Team at TMUC has completed the ‘first quarter’ calculations for the year and they send this note:
“The Administration and Sharing Committee is pleased to report that we ended the first three months of the year with a surplus of $7,744.
This was better than our usual 1st quarter results and was only possible due to your on-going faithful support, supplemented by receipt of Manitoba Government grants totaling $10,000, $1,800 from Transcona Seniors, $600 from the Food Bank for extra cleaning costs, and $500 honorarium from Women’s Health Clinic. The next quarter could bring some challenges with rising insurance costs and reduced one-time grants and subsidies. That said, we should be receiving some support through the wage subsidy program based on our February results, and we may qualify in some of the upcoming months.
As we look forward to better days ahead we want to thank you again for your patience and unwavering commitment to our congregation. Keep up the good work and stay safe! “
Thank you to the Admin and Sharing Team for all their work and to everyone for their prayer-filled and generous support!
