A few announcements (the musing comes at the end of the message …)

  • The scrap metal drive raised $750.14!  Thanks to everyone!
  • 2022 Church Calendars from The United Church of Canada can be ordered from TMUC by email (tmuc@shaw.ca) for $10. each.  The calendars feature photos of Canadian churches.
  • The funeral service for Frank Favoni will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. as a ‘live-stream’ using ZOOM.  Covid restrictions mean that in-person attendance is by the invitation of the family.  Please join the live-stream at 12:45 p.m. for a video montage tribute to Frank’s life with the service to follow.  This is the ZOOM link for Saturday (it is different than the usual TMUC link) https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86488844832?pwd=WkdtekxxZGRvYzBMQlhyL1M2b2tEUT09
  • The funeral hosting team has an ongoing need for a few more volunteers – please email tmuc@shaw.ca to join the list!  Would you consider being on the funeral kitchen team – or a set-up the hall team? (we are set for Saturday – thank you!)
  • Now that we have returned to in-person worship, we need a few volunteers to be greeters – Greeters welcome people at the door, check proof of full vaccination and government-issued ID, provide each person with a medical-grade mask and handout sheet for the service. Following the service, greeters will ensure the church is closed (lights off, doors locked, alarms on).  Shelley Schau, Chair of the Worship Team, is coordinating greeters for the next few weeks and would appreciate hearing from you if you can help. Shelley’s phone is 431-275-9169. Thank you.
  • We remind you that we have resumed in-person worship and Sunday School at 10 a.m. Sundays. You must show Government proof of full vaccination or Government proof that you cannot receive a COVID-vaccination or be under 12 years of age.  Masks are required to be worn in the building.
  • We continue TMUC’s weekly ZOOM check-in and chats.  We invite you to join us tomorrow morning  (Thursday) from 9 to 10 a.m.  TMUC’s ZOOM link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/7538449219

And now the musing…

“How do you hear from God?”

That’s a good question for anyone wanting to contemplate their faith, their spirituality, their relationship with God.

How do you hear from God?

Other ways of expressing that question would be: “What are the practices that bring you in touch with God?  When are the times you most feel that God is present? When does God most profoundly guide you in how to live?

How do you hear from God?

There are no right and wrong answers.  There are just shared experiences, so here are some to start you thinking about your own responses:

  • Walking along a river, staring at the stars, smelling the autumn air…experiences of belonging to and relating to an amazing creation!
  • Authors, poets, musicians whose words and moods call me to more compassionate ways of being and living
  • Time spent in prayer
  • Time spent in silent meditation
  • Stories of suffering, stories of people advocating and working for food to be shared, all people to be respected, and peace to be practised,
  • ……….

We invite you to reflect upon your own experiences of God. We invite you to reflect on the question:

How do you hear from God?

We keep you in our prayers,
Carol and Jeff
