Church at Home – July 4

Categories:

Greetings & Peace to You!

As July begins, TMUC is taking part in an exciting sharing ministry for the next 8 weeks.  The congregations of the United Church in Meadowood, Trinity, Spirit Path, Westminster, and TMUC are sharing weekly worship.  Each congregation is producing digital worship in their own style.

This week, Westminster is leading, and so the weekly worship has a ‘Premiere’ on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Here is how Westminster is sharing the link:

This Sunday we combine forces with four other Winnipeg united churches. New faces, new music, puppets, and a great message from Rev. Sherri makes this a wonderful way to kick off the summer.

We believe that TMUC folks will still want to hear our musicians, and our reflections the summer – even on the weeks when other congregations are taking the lead.  And, yes, Esther and Emmett are making an appearance this week.  The script for their message is at the end of this email.

We will be using the weeks when we are not preaching to offer some other words and music– this week it is Carol speaking about what is happening in the world, and the music team offering ‘Walk with Me’ and ‘Sent Out in Jesus’ Name’.

And following Carol’s reflection on our faith and Residential Schools, here is the link for The United Church of Canada’s Residential School Archives Project.  It is called, The Children Remembered.

Again and again we are called to listen to words of reconciliation:

We are gathered for worship and work in Treaty One territory, which is the traditional land of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dené peoples and the homeland of the Metis Nation. For thousands of years Indigenous Peoples walked this land and knew it to be the centre of their lives and their spirituality. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.

We continue to be so grateful for those who continue to financially support the ministry of TMUC, through your donations on PAR, through www.canadahelps.org and in cheques mailed to the church.  You are making a difference.  Thank you.

Even though we cannot be together in one place, let’s continue to be a community at prayer together.  We hope that on Sunday at 10:00, you will think about the gifts we have in our lives, and needs of our world, and then pray the Lord’s prayer (you can pray silently, or out loud).  The Shared Service Video will be available following that at 10:30.
