NOTE: We will be celebrating the sacrament of baptism this Sunday, so we WILL NOT BE LIVESTREAMING the service this week (December 11).

The Moderator of The United Church of Canada has joined with three other national church leaders (from the Anglican Church of Canada, The Evangelical l Lutheran in Canada and The Presbyterian Church in Canada) in pre-recording four Advent conversations. Here’s this week’s post.


TMUC invites you to share the joy of our Advent events and activities:

Christmas Messy Church is on Friday, December 16 starting at 5:30.  As Christmas Messy Church will include dinner, your RSVP is appreciated but not required.  (tmuc@shaw.ca)

The next online ‘lunch’n learn’ will be at noon on Dec. 15 with the story of Lot’s wife (session lasts about half an hour). Everyone is welcome!  Here’s the ZOOM link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/7538449219

Our Blue Christmas service is on Sunday, December 18 at 7 p.m.

The Christmas Eve service is at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 24.

On Sunday December 25, we celebrate Christmas morning with communion at 10 a.m.

On Sunday January 1, we will gather for our traditional ‘Worship around the Breakfast Table’ in Yale Hall.

Offering envelopes are available for 2023 and are in the office for pick up.

Thanks to everyone for your ongoing support of TMUC’s ministry.  Donations online can be made through CanadaHelps.

Note: to receive a receipt for income tax purposes for 2022 givings to TMUC, we must receive your givings in the office or by mail (post marked no later than December 31, 2022).  To help with this, the office will be open on Friday, December 30 from 9 to noon.

TMUC is preparing Christmas Hampers for 10 families. This week our food requests are for
canned fruit
canned vegetables
jam
hot chocolate
2.5 kg bags of flour
We are adding to the list:
chocolates
candy/candy canes
muffin mixes
apple sauce cups
healthy school snacks (peanut free)
salt
baking soda
vinegar
We will keep you updated when we reach the amount needed for each item it will come off the list – otherwise keep everything coming!  All donations are appreciated! Donations should be brought to church on Sunday or dropped at the office by arrangement.  Monetary gifts are also possible and specially marked envelopes are available.

The TMUC Breakfast Group is a small but determined remnant of the once-thriving Mens’ Breakfast Group. We are having our first post-COVID gathering on Monday, December 12 at 9:00 AM, at Aalto’s in the CanadInn (Transcona – not Club Regent). The group is no longer restricted to men. We invite you to join us.  All are welcome!

L’Arche Winnipeg is hosting a fundraiser event –Songs of Christmas – on December 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church. Tickets are $15. To order, contact L’Arche Winnipeg at 204-237-0300.

We are still collecting pop cans for recycling (so far we have raised just over $170!)  and partnering with TruEarth for fundraising
