Thank you to everyone who helped organize and contribute to our Glenlea Greenhouse plant sale fundraiser, we raised $1345.97!
And, thanks for your contributions to the ongoing pop can drive! We have now raised $347.45!
And to everyone for contribution to last weekend’s scrap metal collection fundraiser – we will let you know that fundraising total as soon as we have it!
At the congregational meeting on Monday, TMUC approved a call to Robert Reed to serve as this faith community’s Ministry Personnel beginning July 1, 2023. We know TMUC looks forward to meeting and welcoming Rob and to sharing with him the life and ministry of this faith community.

People of Transcona Memorial,
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Rob Reed, and the congregation that inspired my call to ministry through its handbell choir and youth program was Camrose United Church in Alberta. In 2002, I received an opportunity to become part of a team ministry as a Staff Associate, in Sherwood Park, Alberta, where my focus was with youth, and where my discernment for diaconal ministry was undertaken and completed. I was commissioned in 2010, in Alberta and Northwest Conference. In 2007 I began serving as a student with the people of Gainsborough and Carievale in southeast Saskatchewan. These congregations saw me through my theological studies and training with the Centre for Christian Studies, Transfer and Settlement, and 16-years worth of pastoral occasions, to today.
My call to ministry has been nurtured and sustained by opportunities to express creativity through worship, music, education and leadership. My motivation to pursue a call to Transcona Memorial United Church was the stories I have read and heard about the ways in which you live out your call to be God’s people. I am excited to learn more about your journey to becoming an Affirming congregation, and how you continue to live this out. I am excited to learn about and share in your environmental initiatives to care for Creation. I am excited to explore and claim with you, the responsibility of our United Church’s part in reconciliation with our Indigenous kin. I am excited to join in and contribute to the vibrant energy of Messy Church. I am excited to participate in the events that create community and fill the spiritual needs of people who seek the fulfillment of these at Transcona Memorial. I am excited!
When I arrive in Winnipeg in July, to take up this call, it will be in the company of my partner, Susan, who has recently accepted a call to North Kildonan United Church, and our adorable fur-babies, Charlie and Simba. We look forward to exploring Winnipeg,and have already talked about taking in music and theatre events, as well as scoping out interesting restaurants. Thank you for approving my call to serve you. Items Needed: The New to Canada people from Ukraine need some things – particularly bath and kitchen towels, kitchen supplies — dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, serving utensils, etc, a and jams (Jams are expensive in Canada and the families are accustomed to lots of jam on bread and pancakes—and they love homemade if someone is inclined… ). We also would like soccer balls and outdoor toys, helmets and bikes for adults and children.
Come for conversation! Tuesdays from 1:15-2:15 and Thursdays from 6-7pm. We welcome people to gather in conversation. Those learning English are eager to practice! Come and join us in the Multi-purpose room to chat! All are welcome! (if you could help with childcare during the Thursday evening sessions, please contact the church office).
We continue to partner with TruEarth for fundraising. TruEarth is a Canadian Company that has developed an environmentally friendly hypo-allergenic cleaning products. The cleaning products are mailed to your home, and very easy to use. If you have questions there are a number of people in our congregation who are using them.
