TMUC Church News:
SAQA the Studio Art Quilt Association is bringing JOY to TMUC! JOY, a fabric art ‘Trunk Show’ will be at TMUC from Friday, February 17 through Sunday, February 19. Join us on Friday, February 17 at 10:30 for the opening and the Artist Introduction to the Show with local artists Cathie Ugrin, Tanya Deleva and Susan Selby. Here’s more about JOY:
A year ago, SAQA invited fabric artists to consider JOY with these words:
Jubilant, diverse, and inspiring, Joy is a feeling to recognize, embrace, and share.
Since March 2019, the world has shifted. Fear, isolation, and panic have become norms. Unmoored from the norm, we have been drifting. Slowly we are awakening, our mood is shifting and we can see light in the future.
“Joy is an intense, momentary experience of positive emotion”. (Ingrid Fetell)
It’s intangible, that’s why people try to capture it in different forms to remember the moment.
What brings you JOY? What will the new reality be for you?
SAQA artists answered the questions in fabric pieces, each measuring 18 inches square. There is no cost for attending the exhibit (donations welcome). There are 31 pieces on display as well as a number of fabric ‘postcards’. The ‘postcards’ are for sale for $25/each with all proceeds going to the Ukrainian Canadian Foundation.
We hope that you will join us at the exhibition and find JOY!

The Transcona Council for Seniors is hosting a Brunch and Bake sale in conjunction with the Feb. 18 tickets sales. Brunch may be purchased from 8:30-11:00 a.m. Doors open at 8:15.
Clocks needed! The Dinner Theatre needs clocks of various sizes to use as props in the play (which is set in a clock repair shop.) If you can loan a clock please bring it to the office, and please put your name on your clock so that we can return them to their owners after the production. Thank you.
Many volunteers are needed to produce the Dinner Theatre. We have major roles associated with the production and all casting complete; we are now looking for people who would be willing to coordinate support roles. We are looking for the following coordinator roles:
Kitchen – This person coordinates the final prep of food, and plating of salad, dinner and dessert for guests with the help of many volunteers.
Set-up/Take-down – With the help of many volunteers, this person coordinates the set-up of tables and chairs prior to the performances and takes them all down afterwards.
Evening clean-up – With the help of volunteers, this person coordinates the clean-up of the church following each performance, in order that it is “good to go” for the next one.
Serving Staff – This person coordinates the many volunteer servers required to serve dinner and dessert to all the guests.
Hospitality room – This person coordinates the food/drinks and rest area for the cast members on performance nights.
Table setting – With the help of volunteers, this person coordinates the table set-up for each performance.
Greeters – With the help of volunteers, this person coordinates door control into the church for each performance, helping guests access the dining room and theatre areas.
If you have looked after one of these roles in the past, and are interested in continuing or help again, please reach out. If you are willing to try something new, please let us know! None of these roles are “new”, so you don’t have to figure out what you will be doing, we have clear instructions for each, we are just looking for someone to take them on. Please contact Kathy Antymis through tmuc@shaw.ca
if interested.
Thanks to everyone for your ongoing support of TMUC’s ministry. Donations online can be made through CanadaHelps:
We are still collecting pop cans for recycling (so far we have raised $207.55) and partnering with TruEarth for fundraising
