Hymn: God Who Gives to Life Its Goodness: Voices United #260
Opening Prayer: Loving God, we seek to live as your people. We gather to give thanks for your gift of freedom and for your will that chaos end. We pray this day for your people around this world who are in our hearts as we gather here. Be with us and bless us that we may live as a blessing to others. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Gospel: Luke 5:33-39
Then they said to him, “John’s disciples, like the disciples of the Pharisees, frequently fast and pray, but your disciples eat and drink.” Jesus said to them, “You cannot make wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them, can you? The days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast in those days.” He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece from a new garment and sews it on an old garment; otherwise the new will be torn, and the piece from the new will not match the old. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine desires new wine, but says, ‘The old is good.’”

Pastoral Prayer
The prayer that Jesus taught…
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Forever and ever.
AMEN
Hymn: Like a Mighty River Flowing: Voices United #267

Choral Blessing: Take Up His Song
More Voices #213
Take up his song of peace and go into the world.
Take up his song of peace in every moment.
In ev’ry moment of the journey,
we’re laying down our lives,
lay them down in peace,
lay them down and take up his song.
