Communion – Sunday Dec 26 at 10:00 am
Zoom – https://us02web.zoom.us/j/7538449219
The Sunday after worship has traditionally (or at least has been for several years) a worship-around-the-breakfast-table worship time in Yale Hall.
However, due to COVID-10 protocols, the Worship and Welcome Team decided that rather than a potluck breakfast service, we would hold worship online this Sunday.
You are invited to join for a ZOOM worship at 10 a.m. on December 26, using the following ZOOM link:

We will celebrate communion during Sunday’s worship. Click here.
Please prepare something to serve as communion elements – a bit of bread or a cracker, a bit of juice or water – in this COVID time what you need for communion is what you have at hand.
Notice regarding worship in January: Due to the current increase in COVID numbers and current health orders, the TMUC Council has decided that there will NOT be in-person worship on January 2 or 9th. We will continue to send the Friday email with worship materials for those weeks.
The Prayer List is distributed separately and allows us to remember specific people with our prayers. If you want to receive the Prayer List, or add a name (with their permission), please be in touch.
Thanks again to everyone for engaging with us on this COVID-19 journey. We are grateful to share ministry with you and really appreciate your efforts to stay in touch and to continue to care about TMUC with your prayers and your financial support. Donations on PAR (note: the PAR program now accepts monthly credit card donations as well as automatic monthly bank withdrawals), CanadaHelps through www.canadahelps.org e-transfers to the church’s email address: tmuc@shaw.ca, and cheques mailed to the church are making a difference. Thank you.
Donations much be received by December 31 to quality for a 2021 tax receipt.
Even though we cannot be together in one place, let’s continue to be a community at prayer together. If you are not in the Sanctuary with us on Sunday at 10, please think about the gifts we have in our lives, and needs of our world, and then pray the Lord’s prayer (you can pray silently, or out loud).
And, sometime, when you want to have a longer worship time, we are including some words and videos for your use.
As we share this week’s TMUC worship service, we are called again to listen to our faith community’s words of reconciliation:
We are gathered for worship and work in Treaty One territory, which is the traditional land of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dené peoples and the homeland of the Metis Nation. For thousands of years Indigenous Peoples walked this land and knew it to be the centre of their lives and their spirituality. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.

Scripture readings:
Luke 2:41-52
Now every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the festival of the Passover.
And when he was twelve years old, they went up as usual for the festival.
When the festival was ended and they started to return, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it.
Assuming that he was in the group of travelers, they went a day’s journey. Then they started to look for him among their relatives and friends.
When they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem to search for him.
After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.
And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.
When his parents saw him they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Child, why have you treated us like this? Look, your father and I have been searching for you in great anxiety.”
He said to them, “Why were you searching for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
But they did not understand what he said to them.
Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them. His mother treasured all these things in her heart.
And Jesus increased in wisdom and in years, and in divine and human favor.

Jeff Reflection – Dec 26
Let us pray:
God of year that is ending;
God of year about to begin;
God of all times and season;
God of every hour and day;
God of all history;
Every day is a day of Your creation.
Every day is a day of Your presence.
Every day is a day of Your love.
Our lives are lived within Your creation, Your presence, Your love.
We open our hearts to You,
open to offer our gratitude,
to offer our prayers for this world:
We continue to pray for people throughout the world as we deal with COVID-19 and now with the Omicron variant. We pray for global cooperation in making vaccines available globally, and pray that everyone make responsible decisions for the safety of everyone.
We pray for health care workers offering their skills and compassion under stressful and demanding conditions.
We pray for all who have no place to call home. We pray for migrants, for refugees, for those who live on the streets of our cities. We pray for societies to welcome others, for shelter to be available and accessible. We pray for a world in which all have safe places in which to live.
We pray for peace in the world. We pray for all whose lives are scarred by violence, war and conflict.
We pray for all who live with anxiety, fear, depression and emotional challenges, We pray for supportive and understanding communities of family, friends and care-providers.
We pray for healing of relationships.
We pray for all Canadians to embrace the work of reconciliation and the work of healing injustices so that Indigenous and non-indigenous people may together shape a future of respect and trust.
We pray that the birth of Christ that we have celebrated this week, continue to open our hearts and imaginations to Your presence and to ways in which we can love one another to truly bring peace on earth.
We pray in the name and spirit of Jesus the Christ. AMEN
Our closing hymn is “See Amid the Winter’s Snow”
May God bless you and keep you.
May God’s face shine upon you.
May God grant you peace and joy.
Be in the peace of Christ, this day and always. Amen
We keep you in our prayers,
Jeff and Carol
