How do we live out a ministry of presence in the community?
The TMUC Council through the Ministry and Personnel Committee is inviting applications for the Office Administrator – someone who is key in our ministry of community presence. Here’s the link on the position: TMUC News
Online ministry connects us as well. Some people have said that one advantage of TMUC’s online worship is that they can watch the service anytime.
We can worship anytime!
We have always known that – at least, we should have always known that! Worship is paying attention to God, is acknowledging the wonder of God, is intentionally opening ourselves to God’s presence.
This Sunday is the first gathering for Sunday worship in the TMUC Sanctuary since March 2020. To attend you must be fully vaccinated and pre-register with Shelley Schau (Chair of the Worship and Welcome Team) since our space is limited by the current Public Health Orders. Her number is 431-275-9169.
And, we continue to provide these weekly-emailed worship resources to help you worship anytime. Wherever you may be on Sunday at 10, may you know your connection to God’s love and grace.
The Prayer List is distributed separately and allows us to remember specific people with our prayers. If you want to receive the Prayer List, or add a name (with their permission), please be in touch.
Thanks again to everyone for engaging with us on this COVID-19 journey. We are grateful to share ministry with you and really appreciate your efforts to stay in touch and to continue to care about TMUC with your prayers and your financial support. Donations on PAR (note: the PAR program now accepts monthly credit card donations as well as automatic monthly bank withdrawals), CanadaHelps, e-transfers to the church’s email address: tmuc@shaw.ca, and cheques mailed to the church are making a difference. Thank you.
As we share this week’s TMUC worship service, we are called again to listen to our faith community’s words of reconciliation:
We are gathered for worship and work in Treaty One territory, which is the traditional land of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dené peoples and the homeland of the Metis Nation. For thousands of years Indigenous Peoples walked this land and knew it to be the centre of their lives and their spirituality. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.

Scripture readings:
Psalm 124
If it had not been the LORD who was on our side — let Israel now say —
if it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when our enemies attacked us,
then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their anger was kindled against us;
then the flood would have swept us away, the torrent would have gone over us;
then over us would have gone the raging waters.
Blessed be the LORD, who has not given us as prey to their teeth.
We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped.
Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
Mark 9:30-37
They went on from there and passed through Galilee. He did not want anyone to know it; for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, “The Son of Man is to be betrayed into human hands, and they will kill him, and three days after being killed, he will rise again.”
But they did not understand what he was saying and were afraid to ask him.
Then they came to Capernaum; and when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the way?”
But they were silent, for on the way they had argued with one another who was the greatest.
He sat down, called the twelve, and said to them, “Whoever wants to be first must be last of all and servant of all.”
Then he took a little child and put it among them; and taking it in his arms, he said to them,
“Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me.”
Our second hymn is played by Cheryl and sung by Crystal: “On Eagle’s Wings”:

Carol’s Reflection – Sept 26
Let us pray:
God,
Spirit of relationship weaving together all creation;
Spirit of sacredness dwelling in all creation;
Spirit of hope recreating all creation;
We are thankful for Your gift of life, for the cosmic dance of atoms and elements that birthed this world;
We are grateful for this world that has birthed human beings;
We are thankul for the gift of our humanity, for our ability to love, to hope, to imagine and to have faith.
We pray that our gratitude ground us in Your grace, so that we live open to Your Spirit and in harmony with all Your creation.
Open to Your Spirit, God, we offer our prayers for this world:
We pray for healing of the planet. We pray for humans to stop exploiting and abusing this planet, and to embrace new lifestyles and new economic and industrial practices that respect the earth and the earth’s resources.
We pray for those in the world who have experienced destructive forces. We pray for the people of the Canary Islands who have experience a volcanic eruption and earthquakes. We pray for the people of Australia who experienced an earthquake this week. We pray for people whose lives and homes are threatened by fires, by floods, by storms and by drought.
We pray for all who live in places of war and violence. We pray for safety. We pray for peace. We pray for all people to be able to live with dignity and respect and access to food, clean water and shelter.
We pray for everyone elected to the Canadian Parliament. We pray for all Members of Parliament to serve with integrity, wisdom, compassion and dedication to the well-being of all citizens of this country.
We pray for all who are refugees; for all who seek a new home in a place of safety. We pray for nations to offer welcome and hope.
We pray for all who are hungry; for all who have no place to call home; for all who struggle each day to survive. We pray for societies to learn how to care for all people.
We pray for all who live with physical, emotional, mental and spiritual challenges and illness. We pray for healing. We pray for loving and accessible communities of support and care. We pray for all to know Your presence with them in all times.
We pray that we who follow the way of Jesus the Christ, be people of love, of healing, of compassion, of courage in seeking a more just world; people of reconciliation and forgiveness and blessing.
Renew our faith. Let Christ’s love flow through our words and actions.
In Christ’s name we pray. AMEN
Our closing hymn is Cheryl singing “I Am a Child of God”:
May God bless you and keep you.
May God’s face shine upon you.
May God grant you peace and joy.
Be in the peace of Christ, this day and always. Amen
We keep you in our prayers,
Jeff and Carol
