Lenten Worship Gathering – March 21 at 10:00 am

Do you know the hymn/song ‘Jesus Loves Me’?
“Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so…”
It was written more than 150 years ago, and with a shift to the tune, the addition of some clapping and the enthusiastic voice to children, here it is today:
During this Lent, we are following a theme of ‘again and again…’
Following the words of the scripture, this week our theme is ‘again and again we are glorified.’ With the sun shining, and spring arriving, those words seem particularly timely.
During Lent, you are invited to join TMUC for worship via Zoom every Sunday at 10 a.m. This week Sunday School with Brenda is at 9:30! (It is the same ZOOM link, open early for Sunday School!)
Here is the link for both the weekly worship and Sunday School: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/7538449219
If you prefer to join us by being on a ‘Party-line’/’Conference Call’ style of phone call, the number to dial is: 204-272-7920
You will be asked if you want to ‘join a meeting’, (say yes), and then enter the meeting ID number: 753 844 9219
And, as you know, March 20 is the first day of Spring! With Spring comes the time for gardening. So far we have 51 plant orders! If yours is not in yet, there is still time! The deadline for orders is April 15, and delivery to TMUC is May. You can place your orders at:

If you have any questions, please email our project coordinators, Cathy and Breanna, at tmucflowers@gmail.com
We continue to be so grateful for those who continue to financially support the ministry of TMUC, through your donations on PAR, through www.canadahelps.org and in cheques mailed to the church. You are making a difference. Thank you.
Even though we cannot be together in one place, let’s continue to be a community at prayer together. Sometime, please think about the gifts we have in our lives, and needs of our world, and then pray the Lord’s prayer (you can pray silently, or out loud).
And, sometime, when you want to have a longer worship time, we are including some words and videos for your use.
The Prayer List is distributed separately and allows us to remember specific people with our prayers. If you want to receive the Prayer List, or add a name (with their permission), please be in touch.
Again and again we are called to listen to words of reconciliation:
We are gathered for worship and work in Treaty One territory, which is the traditional land of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Dené peoples and the homeland of the Metis Nation. For thousands of years Indigenous Peoples walked this land and knew it to be the centre of their lives and their spirituality. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.
Again and again, we are shown the way of Christ in music, scripture and prayer. We are invited to worship.

Introit: When a Grain of Wheat
You call us, O God, to be your people.
Again and again you invite us to journey with Jesus.
We come to worship today that we might be with you.
Open our ears to hear your Word.
Open our eyes to see your presence.
Open our minds to your truth.
Open our hearts to your justice.
Open our lives to your life.
We have come in Jesus’ name.
Our opening hymn is ‘Now the Green Blade Rises’

John 12:20-33
Now among those who went up to worship at the festival were some Greeks.
They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and said to him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”
Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus.
Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.
Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will my servant be also. Whoever serves me, the Father will honor.
“Now my soul is troubled. And what should I say–‘ Father, save me from this hour’? No, it is for this reason that I have come to this hour.
Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”
The crowd standing there heard it and said that it was thunder. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.”
Jesus answered, “This voice has come for your sake, not for mine.
Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out.
And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”
He said this to indicate the kind of death he was to die.

Let us pray:
Holy God, there are times when we feel your love all around us.
We feel your love in the songs of the birds and the brightness of the day.
We feel your love in the kindness of others, and love that is shared.
We feel your love in the gift of hopefulness.
We thank you for your gifts to us.
We thank you for your promise of love.
We thank you for your promise that nothing will ever separate us from you or from one another.
Loving God, we thank you for our world,
For people who work for justice,
For people who work with compassion,
For people who live with intention and care, sharing resources so that others might truly live.
We thank you for the call to be your disciples,
To live with respect in creation,
To honour the gifts of the earth.
Help us to be earth-keepers, to consider our actions, to reflect your glory.
O God, we know that this world is not as you intend,
There are times when we feel separated from you and your love.
There are times when this isolation feels endless, and we are overwhelmed.
We need you O God.
There are so many people who suffer, and so we offer our prayers.
We pray for those whose names we know,
and those who we do not know but who are known to you.
We pray for all those who are sick;
those whose lives are turned upside down by COVID, or by fear.
We pray for those who are caregivers;
those who are exhausted by the magnitude of the work.
We pray for those who grieve, and for whom the restrictions of the health orders mean they cannot gather as family and friends as they would like.
We pray for those who work for justice; and those who work for peace.
We pray for those who bear your light and love to others.
We name before you some of the other concerns of our hearts and minds:
Hear our prayers, O God.
We need your love, your grace, and your gift of hope.
We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Our closing hymn is ‘O For a World”
May God bless you and keep you.
May God’s face shine upon you.
May God grant you peace and joy.
Be in the peace of Christ, this day and always. Amen
We keep you in our prayers,
Carol and Jeff
