It’s not an anniversary we expected to reach!

Today is one year of Midweek Messages.  This Sunday it will be one year of Worship at Home!

When the church building closed, we thought we would be back in a few months. Instead, we are coming to a one-year anniversary of worshipping online.  And messages online.  And music online.  And Messy Church online.  And meetings online.  And visiting online.  And, of course, a year of phone calls, and Facebook, and website postings.

In some ways it has been a year we do not want to remember. In other ways, it is a year we should not forget.

We should not forget what we have learned about being one global community; learned that borders that can be crossed by disease need to also be crossed by compassion.

We have learned and re-learned the fundamentals – not just the ones of the health orders, but the fundamental connections that we have to family and friends and community and how much they mean to us.  We have protected one another by missing one another.

We have learned that closed doors of a church building do not close ministry or church or care for others.  And to our delight we discovered that an online church community can include people for whom Sunday morning, or a regular trip to a building on Yale Avenue West is not possible.

We have learned that there are lots of ways to worship, and many ways to be the church – the hands and feet of Christ in the community.  We are so grateful for all the ways in which you are sharing Christ’s ministry.

During Lent – the weeks leading to Easter – we are gathering together for worship online each Sunday.

And, there is Sunday School at 9:30 before the brief online Lenten worship at 10:00 a.m.

During Lent we are sharing poetry during our Sunday worship times. We invite you to bring a poem or two to share with us during our Zoom worship and visit.

You are also invited to join our weekly check-in and chat time on Thursdays at 9:00 a.m.
