Church AND Home- May 8

Categories:

Greetings to you in the name of our gracious God.

We begin with amazing news today!  TMUC has been awarded a $30,000 Building Sustainable Communities Program Grant from the Provincial Government!  Our application was made for Heat pump and HRV installation in the Community Extension Building.  This grant will enable us to access another grant from The United Church of Canada Faithful Footprints Program for $30,000!  Thank you to all those who worked on the Grant Application and all those who wrote letters in support of this project!

In case you are wondering how the $60,000 will be spent, here’s a quick summary of the project:
To reduce heating costs and improve indoor air quality, we will replace the 80% efficient gas furnaces in the CE Building, which are reaching the end of their lives, with cold climate air source heat pumps backed up by 98% efficient gas furnaces. We will install heat recovery ventilation (HRV) units to remove stale air and supply pre-conditioned fresh air to the building.

We will keep you apprised as things progress.  We are hoping to have the work accomplished as soon as possible.

TMUC continues to be a community of prayer and care.  Please continue our tradition of prayers for Peace in Ukraine at 6:00 p.m. daily.  And, please continue your prayers for reconciliation, and for refugees everywhere.  These are difficult times in our world, and our thoughts and prayers connect us to others and to the healing of this hurting world.

We continue to be grateful for your generous support of the TMUC community.  If you are wanting to make a donation online, here’s the link:

Sunday worship at TMUC is at 10:00 for in person with a live-stream on ZOOM.  Here is the link if you would like to join in online:

Hymn: My Love Colours Outside the Line:  More Voices  #138

Opening Prayer:  Holy God, you invite us to follow.  You invite us to live as your disciples.  We gather as your people this day.  Be with us as we hear your Word.  Be with us as we extend our love for others as you would have us.  Help us to live grace and care in all we say and do.  We give thanks and pray in Jesus’ name. Amen

Gospel: Luke 5:27-32

After this he went out and saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the tax booth; and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up, left everything, and followed him.

Then Levi gave a great banquet for him in his house; and there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others sitting at the table with them. The Pharisees and their scribes were complaining to his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” Jesus answered, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I have come to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance.”

Pastoral Prayer
The prayer that Jesus taught…
Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
Forever and ever.
AMEN

Take up his song of peace and go into the world.
Take up his song of peace in every moment.
In ev’ry moment of the journey,
we’re laying down our lives,
lay them down in peace,
lay them down and take up his song.
